The Innate Immune System
Innate immunity is the first line of defense and coordinates the more complex and specialized adaptive immune system. In addition to defense, the innate immune system provides various levels of support to cells and systems within the body that are necessary for normal function. The consequences of a poorly functioning innate immune system are broad and implicated in nearly every disease.
What makes us Different?
The immune system is a double-edged sword: it both protects and poses a threat. The same cells and molecules that are implicated in disease are essential to normal function and repair.
Rather than wielding a sledgehammer that broadly modifies immune activity, we need a scalpel—treatments that are finely tuned to reprogram the immune system in a manner that mitigates disease without forsaking its protective roles and compromises safety.
INmune Bio is targeting two key components of the innate immune system to treat Neurologic Disease and Cancer:
Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)
Is a master regulator of the innate immune system. TNF dysfunction has been linked to many diseases including Neurologic diseases and Cancer. Reestablishing normal TNF function is a key approach for treating many diseases.
XPro1595
XPro1595 is currently being developed for Alzheimer’s Disease and Cancer.
Natural Killer (NK) Cells
Are the principal cells responsible for detecting cancer. NK Cell dysfunction increases lifetime risk of cancer. Restoring NK Cell function is the aim of many immunotherapy companies.
INKmune
Unlike other NK Cell treatments that require external manipulations or priming by extrinsic factors (i.e., cytokines) that cause off-target and often toxic side effects, INKmune is administered directly to the patient and activates only the patient’s resting NK cells.
This specificity greatly improves safety. CaRe Prostate is the first cancer immunotherapy trial approved for administration on an outpatient basis.
INKmune is currently being developed for metastatic castration resistant prostate cancer.
